Steam Punk...Bead Punk

Have any of you ever heard of these terms?   Well I was doing this on and off for a while and didn't even know it!

No it isn't anything bad so get your mind out of the gutter!  If you already know then you won't need this explanation, but for those of you out there who don't you will learn something new today when you read this post.

Steam punk is a jewelry term that basically describes jewelry that is made from industrial re-used or recycled parts like watch gears or antique skeleton keys or typewriter keys, ect.  Now Bead Punk goes one step further by adding intricately beaded designs to the industrial parts giving the pieces a more feminine look.

Well since I can remember I have loved to collect some of the objects not really knowing exactly what it is that I was going to do with them, but since I have been making jewelry and teaching myself new techniques I began to slowly pull out some of these industrial objects that I have here around the house and this past week I made my first Bead Punk jewelry piece.  I love it already!

So here are some examples of Steam Punk and Bead Punk by some other really talented artisans that I have been looking to for inspiration.
I saw these on http://www.beadpunk.net/
I really love the bright spring colors on these necklaces!
So if you are a beader, Happy Beading!

Spring Ahead

I am sure glad that we have made it to that time of the year when we must follow the time rule change to SPRING AHEAD......that means Spring is just around the corner.

There is just one little problem with that......we lose an hour....an hour to spend with our family....an hour to just get things done.... and MOST IMPORTANTLY AN HOUR TO SLEEP!   My body doesn't recognize at night that it should go to bed on time which would normally be between 10pm and 11pm....when the time changes, my body thinks wow I am still awake and lets stay up until 12am just because my body thinks it is really only 11pm.

I know in a matter of a couple days my body will adjust, but for these last few mornings.... getting up has had its moments.  Now in general I am not a morning person.....I have to have a cup of Tazo Wake up tea or some Earl Grey with bergamot before I am fully functioning.  In my household the only two living creatures that like to get up and are happy first thing in the morning are my dog and my husband.

Our daughter and our 2 cats have the same morning temperment as I do......cranky and don't bother me until I wake up all the way.   It makes for some pretty miserable mornings when it is just my daughter and I here in the house alone.

My husband is one of those types who gest in the shower immediately and starts singing......not well I might add, but he  thinks he sounds great.  If you see him after you have read this don't tell him I said that.

At least today when I got up the sun was shining and that can make my day, even when it is this early in the morning....good thing since we have had a request to bake a new type of cookie today.  When we get them done this afternoon I will publish a new post about them with some pictures as well.

So have your tea or coffee this morning and shake off the sand man's spell....I know that I feel better already!
